Free Touring

Free Touring

English:
Free touring - ascending with climbing skins and descending in a freeridestyle.
Often you can't ride faces without climbing up before. I personally do it with pleasure because you get access to hidden pow. In the last time a few products were brought out which try to combine a challenging descend with the freedom in ascending. For example alpine touring capable bindings like the Marker Duke, which I personally use, the Salomon Guardian or the skiboot Lange XT 130. But also the skifactories have recognized that trend and try to reduce the weight of their freeride skis but still preventing the performance you need in descending. Rossignol has announced a new ski line at ISPO in which the tip and tail of the ski contains air, enclosed in honeycombs. As a result that ski is much lighter than a conventional model.
To finish I can say that the ski industry trys so faciliate the ascend for all freeriders. So it gets easier to get your dose of powder ;-)
